Who Is El Victor?

A Mexican wrestler is one who participates in lucha libre, a form of professional wrestling found in Mexico and some other Spanish-speaking countries. This style of wrestling is characterized by rapid sequences of maneuvers, complicated holds, colorful masks and even some high-flying maneuvers. The masks are definitely the most iconic aspect of lucha libre, and in some high-stakes matches the loser must permanently remove his mask. A Mexican wrestler often chooses to fight in teams, particularly in a trio.

Lucha libre has definitely made its way into more mainstream cultural knowledge, thanks to the iconic symbols, the entertainment industry and certain wrestlers that have pervaded popular culture outside of Mexico and a handful of Spanish-speaking countries. One of these wrestlers is El Victor, a performer on Huntington Street Television. El Victor worked to bring Mexican wrestling to mainstream America, through applications in popular culture. He spoke to the masses, inspiring at least some additional knowledge of Mexican wrestling. He has also inspired a decent amount of attire, including a line of board shorts from Quiksilver.
